xXx: Return of Xander Cage is an action film by DJ Caruso that was released by Paramount Pictures on January 20, 2017. It is the third film in the xXx series marking Vin Diesel’s return to one of the franchises. The brand that made him famous.
The action stars from various countries are the main attraction of this movie. But can the quality and excitement surpass the previous two? Let’s first take a look at the following review to learn more about this movie review.

NSA agent Augustus Gibbons is recruiting new agents for his xXx program. This time he is interviewing soccer player Neymar. Before the interview ended, a satellite fell from the sky and blew up the place. The gibbons are believed to have died in the incident.
CIA agent Jane Marke meets at CIA headquarters to discuss these events. Suddenly, a group of martial arts experts broke into the meeting and stole a device called Pandora’s Box. This technological device can hack satellites that fall to the earth at the desired location.
To retrieve the device, Jane tracks down Xander Cage in the Dominican Republic. He asks Cage to be active again and is ready to complete this mission.
Because of his desire to kill Gibbons, Cage willingly undertakes this mission with his team. Sniper Adele, DJ Nicks and his trusted chauffeur Tennyson are ready to assist Cage in this quest.
An introverted technologist and weaponist, Becky, is also tasked with equipping the team with state-of-the-art weapons. Cage has found the whereabouts of Pandora’s Box on an island in the Philippines. They then infiltrate a beach party, where Cage meets Xiang and Serena, two of Gibbons’ former xXx agents.
Suddenly the Russian army arrives to ruin the party. Cage and his party fought. Xiang escapes with Pandora’s Box and is pursued by Cage. After a short chase, Cage won Pandora’s Box in his hand. But Serena shot down the tech.
When another satellite crashes in Moscow, Jane realizes that the technological equipment they have obtained is not the real thing, but a prototype. And Cage realizes from the videotape of a meeting at CIA headquarters that CIA director Anderson is the real mastermind and owner of Pandora’s Box.
They head to Detroit to hunt down Anderson. But Cage is rivaled by Xiang and his team, who are also on the hunt for tech gear. Cage and Xiang must get there faster before Anderson uses the technology again.
Although they hunted each other, the two of them also protected each other. And finally Cage and Xiang reach where Anderson is.
With a trick performed by Cage, Adele was able to shoot Anderson from the building opposite the site. Jane receives a Pandora’s Box from Cage and Xiang is captured. All then returned to the plane.
But apparently, Jane shot down Cage. He intends to activate Pandora’s Box for his own benefit. Team Cage was in the safe house when NSA armed forces raided.
Apparently Cage isn’t dead because he’s wearing Becky’s latest bulletproof suit. With Xiang’s help, Cage tries to paralyze Jane and stop her evil intentions.
Team Cage is pressed with depleted ammo. Jane manages to use Pandora’s Box and drop a satellite to earth.
How does Cage prevent satellites from being shot down? And who will save Cage’s team from the invasion of the NSA’s armed forces? All these questions will be answered by completing the fun of this movie to the end.
Reviews xXx: Return of Xander Cage
Warmly welcome the return of Vin Diesel
xXx (2002) is one of the early films of Vin Diesel’s career that raised his name to the top of Hollywood action stars. The other two films are Pitch Black (2000) and The Fast and the Furious (2001). xXx is a blockbuster that definitely gets the green light for its sequel.
But what happened, Vin Diesel lost interest in playing Xander Cage again and his character was replaced by Darius Stone, played by Ice Cube in the movie xXx: State of the Union (2005) ).
It took a 12-year wait for the action franchise to spawn a third installment by bringing back Vin Diesel as the main character and also Ice Cube, who appears at the end of the film.
Of course, fans of Vin Diesel and the xXx series have warmly welcomed the well-built actor’s return in one of the homes that have raised his name in the past.
After successfully rejoining the Fast & Furious franchise to revive Dominic Toretto’s character, the xXx project is the franchise he wants to revive.
Marvel at Action Stars from various countries
Vin Diesel’s return as Xander Cage makes this film a magnet for other action stars to join. Not half-heartedly, almost all the characters in this film are big names of the country’s cinema.
This is the first time we get to see Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa in action in a movie. Unfortunately, Tony Jaa was only present as an auxiliary, while Donnie Yen excelled in deadly attacks.
There are also Indian stars Deepika Padukone and Australian actress Ruby Rose side by side in this film. Their chemistry is pretty solid in an exciting action scene.
There’s also Canadian actress Nina Dobrev as the technology and weapons expert introvert Becky. And there’s still Samuel L. Jackson who only appears in two scenes as Augustus Gibbons, while Toni Collette looks cool as CIA agent Jane Marke.
Not stopping there, this movie also has other stars who shine equally even though their roles are not big.
It’s Scottish actor Rory McCann, who rose to fame through Game of Thrones as the reckless driver Tennyson and employee of South Korean boy band Exo, Kris Wu, as the nimble and vivacious DJ Nicks.
The last two names come from the sports field, that is former UFC fighter Michael Bisping as Hawk and famous soccer player Neymar, who has been recruited to be an agent for xXx. Both deserve to be called as guests because their roles are not so important, they just add to the atmosphere.
And what can’t be forgotten is the presence of Ice Cube that brings back the Darius Stone feature. He came at the right time to save his comrades. It is likely that Vin Diesel and Ice Cube will co-star in the sequel later.
The action scenes are absurd but spectacular
One thing we’re definitely looking for in this 1 hour 47 minute movie is action, and director DJ Caruso is pretty good at delivering powerful and epic action sequences.
Although it tends to be ridiculous with things that rarely happen in real life, all the action scenes in this movie are entertaining and make us chuckle.
Of course, we are also looking forward to the fight between Vin Diesel and Donnie Yen will be very interesting. The chase scene using a motorbike out into the middle of the sea to fight a moving truck was enough to ignite our adrenaline.
Likewise other actors and actresses, who have their respective opportunities to show off their skills in performing action scenes.
However, this mediocre cinematic movie is weak from the script. The plot is too formulaic, the hunted enemies are easy to find and the changes are quite predictable. Also, all characters that appear in a dimension don’t have any meaningful depth.
F. Scott Frazier as a screenwriter is really hard to share a story with as many characters as in this movie. Therefore, a lot of sacrifices must be made so that the story line does not make the length of the film prolonged.
xXx: Return of Xander Cage is sure to please all fans of this action series, especially when the two heroes from the previous two seasons meet here. Along with a series of movie stars from many different countries, this film even more alive with international flavor.
The action scenes are spectacular, albeit a bit absurd. It’s just that the plot is less interesting and the characters all seem shallow.
Even so, this movie can still be entertaining and eye-catching with a series of strong action scenes and a host of stars in it. Ready to get back into the action with Xander Cage? Watch this movie now, OK!
