The Big 4 movie review
Plot Motivation Action 100% Work
The motive of revenge has always been the mainstay of what makes action movies more and more brutal in showing all the madness. Moreover, the addition of the family drama from the orphanage, has bonded the audience’s emotions from the very beginning. Even minimal background is not a problem for continuing to carry out revenge motives.
The opening sequence is long enough to introduce Petrus to Budi Ros, who became their adoptive father and trained them to become contract killers known as “The Big Four”. Petrus, who has Dina’s children, becomes the main motivation for these assassins to get back into action.
Dina’s central role is like a second layer because it’s covered with the absurdity of “The Big Four,” (yes, because of its main title). It’s a pity that the villain, who could be the main obstacle of “The Big Four” turns out to be crude at the end, because of a ridiculous episode that really hurts the stomach. The revenge mission of the “Four big brothers” is light.
National action with an international taste
Timo is working on another project, the action in front of the screen still has his own character with a lot of bloodshed in the gunfight. Not only blood, perhaps those of you who are not familiar with Timo’s girl-killing series will be disgusted with the pieces of corpses flying around throughout the action of the “Super Quartet”.
With no superfluous camera movement, the fighting and shooting actions are still comfortably watched. But don’t worry, the composure of the action frenzy on par with “The Big Four” will flow well with the cast’s silliness, even until the plot is complete.
If you are a lover of Netflix action movies, this reminds us of Michael Bay’s ‘6 Underground’. A group of assassins with their hilarious actions. But Timo’s distinctive style and Asian nuances still stand out.
The hilarious cast is so perfect
Still seasoned “melee”, the action of the 4 assassins was complete with Jenggo’s sniper from Ari Keriting. With his signature jokes, minimal action is encapsulated in his always tickling conversation. Even his silliness melts with the silliness of his other 3 siblings.
Not only Ari Kriting, even Kristo as Pelor has been seen from the very beginning. Although considered the most helpless of the remaining 3 brothers, Pelor is like a catalyst for 3 quite strong people. This was his first pioneering role in a feature film and was quite successful with its action sequences and silliness.
Alpha and Lutesha also play very well with their angry characters, as opposed to Typhoon from Abimana. If you see the naivety of this eldest brother, his role of Dono (Warkop) will be the lightest because the humor always interjects even between the life and death boundary.
Conclusion of the movie The Big 4
The Batulan action, with its slick “melee” choreography, has once again become a hit in Indonesian films. Timo delivers arguably the best action comedy of 2022. With the help of CGI full of gore and body parts, the killer’s frenzied action is portrayed as brutal. Let’s not forget the humor throughout the fight, it continues to bring joy to us, making us forget that the original motive of “The Big 4” was to avenge the death of their father.
