A diary kept by Emperor Shaddam IV’s (Christopher Walken) daughter, Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh). He said that Paul Atreides might still be alive; and sure enough, Paul (Timothée Chalamet) survived after fleeing an attack from the Harkonnen with his mother, Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson).
They, along with Fremen warriors, Stilgar (Javier Bardem) and his men, go to Sietch Tabr on Arrakis to hide there. Although they initially faced attacks from the Harkonnen, together they were able to overcome these obstacles. When he got there, the residents of Sietch did not like Paul’s presence.
The people of Sietch think Paul and Jessica are spies. However, some other residents believe that Paul and Jessica are the answer to the prophecy that the presence of the Mother and Son will bring prosperity to Arrakis. While in Sietch, Paul tries to blend in with the soldiers, including Chani (Zendaya).
Meanwhile, Jessica is asked by Stilgar to become the successor to the Mother of the Fremen. Jessica initially refused but in the end she couldn’t do much and accepted her fate of becoming the next mother. He drank the Water of Life and began to inherit the memories of every female ancestor in his genetic lineage.
After ‘unifying’ with the power of the Water of Life, Jessica began to spiritually interact with the child she was carrying within her. The child inherited Jessica’s powers and began exchanging opinions in an attempt to convince all the people of Arrakis to believe in the prophecy that had been spread.
Meanwhile, when Paul was pressed that he would be the ‘Savior’ for the people of Arrakis, Paul politely refused by saying that he had come to Sietch to live with and learn the way of life of the Arrakis people. Instead of weakening, the people of Arrakis, including Chani, respected Paul even more.
Stilgar begins training Paul to become a good Arrakis and Fedaykin warrior. He was given many assignments and was able to complete them with full marks. Paul can also ride the largest sandworm Arrakis has ever encountered. Even when the Harkonnens suddenly attacked, Paul still defeated them.
Seeing all this, the people of Arrakis’s belief in Paul as ‘the chosen one’ became stronger. Stilgar calls Paul Muad’Dib and Usul. Both names have strong connotations that Paul now carries, and these names reach the ears of the Harkonnen family, specifically Rabban (Dave Bautista). This made him angry.
Rabban does not want his uncle, Baron Vladimir (Stellan Skarsgård), to know that Muad’Dib has the ability to disrupt the Harkonnen family’s plans. However, it turns out that the Baron already knew about this, so he appointed his other nephew, Feyd-Rautha (Austin Butler), to lead the war.
On the other hand, Paul meets Gurney Halleck (Josh Brolin), former leader of the Atreides army and Paul’s advisor. Together with Gurney, Paul’s power is now even stronger. Gurney then wanted to serve Paul to join the fight against the Harkonnen. He also wanted revenge on Rabban, who had problems with him.
Meanwhile, Feyd-Rautha and his army began attacking the Sietch area. This causes Paul to decide to send everyone into the South while Paul remains on guard in the North. Chani knew this so she didn’t allow it, she loved Paul and didn’t want to lose him.
After being persuaded, Paul finally followed everyone to the South and even drank the Water of Life that men were not allowed to drink. He did this so that he could gain the power to see the future. Unfortunately, Paul died but the power of Chani’s spring tears saved him.
Before Paul fell into a coma, he had a premonition that he was the grandson of the Harkonnen family! Jessica turns out to be a member of the Harkonnen family but has run away and married Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac) without Leto’s knowledge. Paul also confronted his own mother to find out the truth.
At the same time, Stilgar began to hand over his throne to Paul as leader. Paul eventually accepted this fate, he was now considered Lisan al-Gaib and held complete power over the Fremen. Paul now also dared to challenge Emperor Shaddam and went to meet him with his soldiers.
Feyd-Rautha then asked Paul to fight him with the Emperor’s dagger. Paul agreed and started the fight, but Feyd-Rautha eventually lost. This scared the Harkonnen family. Paul also asked everyone to obey him, including the emperor who was asked to kiss Paul’s father’s signet ring.
Princess Irulan then offers to become Paul’s wife to save her father, causing Chani to get angry and leave. Meanwhile, despite the rejection from ‘ Great Family’ ; Paul remained determined to rule. Jessica later sees Paul’s achievement as the beginning of Muad’Dib’s jihad.
Movie review Dune: Part Two
Best sci-fi movies of 2024!
Need the best sci-fi movies? So the answer lies in the movie Dune: Part Two! All aspects are nicely packaged by Denis Villeneuve. Starting from the very good use of CGI, the acting of Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya fits the interesting story of the struggle against the Harkonnen.
In fact, some of you will definitely agree with Salenhanh’s opinion that the second Dune movie is packaged better than the first Dune movie. Try and feel for yourself!
Must see the movie first
A few words of advice for those of you who want to watch this movie, Bacaterus strongly recommends that you watch the first story first. Because there are many stories that follow on from the first one, and if you don’t know; you must be confused. Not to mention the birth of many foreign countries and soldiers.
The beginning of Dune serves as a gateway to the story of Paul’s struggle to defeat the Harkonnens who completely destroyed Paul’s nation, the Atreides. This made the audience curious about what would happen next, so Dune: Part Two was made. So let’s go back to 2021 first to see the beginning of the conflict!
Sand Dunes Part 3
The cliff-hanging ending of the story Dune: Part Two indicates that there will be a continuation of the story of Paul in leading many nations and the people’s perception of him as the Messiah or Lisan al -Gaib. Not only that, the third film will also explain how Paul and Chani’s relationship will develop in the future.
From much information gathered, it turns out that a third part of Dune is already in production and will most likely be directed again by Denis Villeneuve. Salenhanh hopes the next film will be as grand and epic as this second film; remember that making a sequel is not easy.
Overall, the film Dune: Part Two deserves a standing ovation. The good work of Denis Villeneuve’s crew led Bacaterus to give this film a score of 4.6/5. Even though the movie is nearly 3 hours long, it doesn’t feel boring at all. So don’t forget to watch the movie, OK!
